What is required
The UK requires employers to limit worker exposure to coolant mist from CNC machines, as these mists can cause respiratory problems, skin irritation, and other serious health issues. Under the COSHH Regulations (2002), coolant mist must be controlled at the source using oil‑mist extraction or Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems, which must also be regularly serviced. The HSE is responsible for enforcing these regulations.

The solution
Leicester Precision Components supply cost‑effective LEV units for CNC machines. Our Clarion Ventilation System extracts contaminated air from machine enclosures, filters it, and returns clean, mist‑free air to the workshop—protecting operators and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Built for durability and efficiency, our units are fitted with monitors that confirm proper performance and indicate when servicing is required.
For all LEV needs, contact LPC for reliable and competitively priced solutions.
Clarion Ventilation System Model LEVs available
LPC provide 4 models in the Clarion Ventilation systems LEV range. These are designed to cater for CNC machines with a particular enclosure volume. The table shows the range of LEV units and their specifications.
Our Clarion Ventilation LEVs are built to exacting standards. Each unit is tested on assembly using components designed for quiet vibration free, reliable operation in a compact unit.
Our Clarion Ventilation LEVs are guaranteed to provide you with trouble free operation over many years and we guarantee our products for 2 years from any defects (Filters not included).
Clarion Ventilation System LEVs come with after HEPA filters, fitted as standard. They are designed to remove fine contaminants down to 0.3µm and return clean air to the workshop environment with 99.97% efficiency.
Operating principles behind the Clarion Ventilation System LEV
Clarion Ventilation System LEVs are based on centrifugal oil mist separation through high-capacity filters, capturing the coolant mist generated from neat oil and emulsions used in machine tools
(A) Contaminated air from the machine tool enclosure is drawn up by the powerful turbine fan system away from exposing operators at the machine tool environment
(B) Filtered Clean air recycled back to the workshop environment via the efficient 3-layer filter. Our units are also supplied with HEPA filters that ensure the ultimate in healthy environments
(C) The centrifugal action causes the mist to coalesce, and the liquid is returned to the CNC machine. The efficient 3-layer filter make sure no mist particles are returned to the environment.
